Funkmaster Flex is at it again! He’s teamed with Castrol – the industry leading manufacturers of oil and lubricants, to produce Car Wars w/Funkmaster Flex – a car customization contest/reality show for ESPN2.

On the heels of Flex’s #1 New York City radio show (he reaches 2 million listeners a week), his Spike TV show Ride w/Funkmaster Flex, and his ESPN2 show All Muscle w/Funkmaster Flex (seen in seven countries including the U.K., Italy, Germany, New Zealand and Australia), Car Wars is just the next level of the DJ-turned-mogul’s media invasion.

The founder of Team Baurtwell (the highest profile custom car club around with members like Shaquille O'Neil, Busta Rhymes, Mariah Carey, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Danica Patrick, Jason Giambi and Manny Ramirez), and dubbed by the New York Times as an "evangelist of hip hop car culture", Flex knows cars, and he knows car customizers. For Car Wars, Flex has chosen those with the sickest skills, deepest resources, and an overwhelming passion for what they do.

The final four contestants were announced to a live audience of car-lovers at the Hartford, Connecticut stop on Flex’s annual Custom Car & Bike Tour. Anthony DeMonte – a 37-year-old NASCAR driver, New York City Police Officer, and owner of DeMonte Motorsports in Ronkonkoma, represents Long Island. Lori Ann Mule is a 41-year-old, twice divorced mother of two who owns Crystal Auto Glass and hails from Staten Island. Frequent car show award-winner Abe Lopez, age 40, manages Pure Fuel – a diesel distribution company in Newark, New Jersey. And Ronnie Garber, at 22 years of age, represents the youth of Staten Island with his in-car entertainment company Toyz With Noise.

Over the course of 7 half hour episodes including a 2 part finale, viewers will get a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the lives of the four contestants and find out what it takes (and what people are willing to do) to build a show car. The diverse roster of car-enthusiasts will have six weeks to customize a car, as they compete against each other, and the clock, to be named Castrol’s Best of Show. Flex and his team of car specialists and celebrity judges will choose the winner in front of a crowd of thousands at the final stop on Flex’s Custom Car & Bike Tour in Atlantic City on September 9, 2006.

Flex’s urban influence is a natural fit for ESPN2 which reaches 90 million homes and has a predominantly male audience with a median HHI of $54,257.

Car Wars w/Funkmaster Flex has just finished shooting throughout the New York tri-state area, and with Funkmaster Flex at the helm – it should be a ride to remember.
