THE FREMANTLE CORPORATION SAILS INTO MIPCOM WITH CAPTAINS HOOK, BLACKBEARD AND NEMO IN NEW ANIMATED FEATURES
(Toronto, ON – October 1, 2008): The Fremantle Corporation’s latest acquisition FANTASTIC TALES encompasses a spellbinding collection of six animated features being produced as a Canada/EU co-production by Canadian production companies Kaleidoscope Entertainment and Comet Entertainment for worldwide distribution by The Fremantle Corporation.
FANTASTIC TALES combines the writing genius of H.G. Wells, Robert Louis Stevenson, Arthur Conan Doyle, Cervantes, Stoker, Melville, Mallory and Verne. Shot in a combination of 2D and 3D, these non-violent FCC-Friendly features are filled with humor, spine-tingling adventure and romance. Aside from Captains Hook, Blackbeard and Nemo, the films also showcase such recognizable classic characters as Merlin, Dr. Watson, Jekyll and Hyde, Peter Pan, Odysseus, Pocahontas, Moby Dick, Van Helsing, Don Quixote, and the Troll King.
In FANTASTIC TALES audiences can expect a wild ride with every story. In one animated feature LEONARDO AND THE TIME MACHINE, a young Leonardo Da Vinci with the aid of Dr. Watson and H. G. Wells’ Time Machine, pursues Jekyll and Hyde who have made off with his favorite model. Her smile in the final frame is priceless.
“We are targeting boys and girls age seven to twelve and their families. This is entertainment for co-viewing, much like Shrek, Mulan and other major features that have seen release over the past several years,” states Irv Holender, head of The Fremantle Corporation.
FANTASTIC TALES, co-produced by Kaleidoscope Entertainment and Comet Entertainment Inc., puts story-telling front and center and will appeal to the entire family. Comet Entertainment Inc. is the producer of the animated prime-time feature film "Santa Vs Claus" and the TV series “Toby, Prince of Whales”.
“We could not be happier to be working with such an elite distribution company as The Fremantle Corporation. We are looking forward to building our relationship with Fremantle…Fantastic Tales is just the beginning,” states Raquel Benitez, President and CEO of Comet Entertainment.
